Several social media users trolled the referees in the Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers game on Thursday at the Lumen Field. Alex Kemp’s team was in-charge of the tie.
San Francisco won 21-13 and clinched the NFC West title.
Some fans, mid-game, complained the referee Alex Kemp was giving calls in favour of the Seahawks.
“Who has #nfl referee Alex Kemp on their fantasy list? He’s definitely leading the #Seahawks in all purpose yards! They’re really trying to drag Seattle across the finish line,” a Twitter user said.
“Alex Kemp should be fired… anyone else would be for the horrid penalty calls/non calls throughout the game,” another one added.
“Alex Kemp is an embarrassment to the game of football,” a third one tweeted.
The game saw 15 accepted penalties for 139 yards and 19 flags. San Francisco had seven penalties for 60 yards and 11 flags. Seattle had eight for 79 yards and eight flags.
Brock Purdy, Mr Irrelevant, threw for two touchdown passes to George Kittle. He connected on his first 11 pass attempts, including a 28-yard TD to the tight end in the first quarter when Purdy executed two fakes before hitting his tight end wide open.
Purdy and Kittle connected again early in the second half as Seattle’s defense blew a coverage and left Kittle open for a 54-yard TD and a 21-3 San Francisco lead.
Purdy finished 17 of 26 for 217 yards, joining Aaron Rodgers as the only QBs since at least 1950 to have a passer rating of at least 115 in each of their first two starts.
