FC Barcelona summer signing Sergio Aguero is reportedly frustrated with close
friend and Argentina teammate Lionel Messi’s exit and is now considering to
leave the club. Barcelona announced on Thursday that Messi will not be continuing
at the club because of financial obstructions from La Liga.

Having joined from Manchester City as a free agent, Aguero has now asked
his lawyers to ascertain whether it will be possible to cancel his contract
with the Catalans in the coming days, Forbes quoted a report from Spanish outlet
Beteve as saying.

The move can further deepen the crisis around the club, as Messi’s
exit has seen an outpour of emotions with many fans blaming the administration for
failing to hold on to the Argentine. The former Atletico Madrid striker is also reportedly feeling betrayed by the club, as he was promised that he will get to play alongside Messi.

Aguero had called Barcelona “the best club in the world” when he was presented as their new striker on May 31. “So I think I made a good decision,” the 33-year-old said during the presentation.

“I hope I can help the team. Of course, coming here is a step forward for my career. I am very happy. I hope that I will help the team to win trophies. The most important thing is that I want to play, to help this team. If the team succeeds, I will be happy,” he said.

He also vowed to help the club win trophies in the upcoming 2021-22 season, adding that he will use his experience to help bring silverware to Camp Nou.

But playing alongside his compatriot Messi was always the primary reason ‘Kun’ Aguero switched to Barcelona. He also reportedly took a sizeable paycut, agreeing to an annual salary of €5.9 million to play for the Catalans.

However, it seems his dream of playing with Messi at club level will remain unfulfilled, with the diminutive forward close to reuniting with former teammate Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain.
