After South Korea went down by 4 goals within 40 minutes in the Round of 16 match against Brazil at Stadium 974, users on social media could not help but make fun of South Korea’s situation.

Led by Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min, South Korea could not match Brazil’s sharpness on the field. Brazil outplayed them in every aspect of the game as hopeful South Korean fans watched the disaster in dismay.

Given how easily South Korea’s defense was opened up in front of the Brazilian frontline of Raphina, Richarlison, and Vinicius Jr, one fan could not resist the temptation to make fun of it. He posted a video of a security guard who is seen barely checking anyone while granting entry. 

Another account compared South Korea’s effort to keep Brazil out of its goal to cleaning waves on the beach. In the video, a man can be seen engaged in the futile exercise of sweeping out the seawater at a beach.

One fan shared a photoshopped picture of South Korea account getting suspended during the match. He added two crying emojis for effect.

Another meme tried to sum up South Korea’s emotions during the match. They have come a long way in the tournament after they managed to qualify for the round of 16 in a group where they were not the favourites. Although it was expected that Brazil would beat South Korea, no one thought that it will come so easily. 

One fan even shared a snippet from the British TV show Peaky Blinders that shows Thomas Shelby saying: “go home to your families.” The meme perfectly sums up Brazil’s dominant play against South Korea, which is akin to how the Peaky Blinders dominated Manchester in the 1920s and 1930s.
