The LaLiga title race seems to be a much closer event than in recent years and a winner could take a psychological advantage heading into the second half of the season. Madrid beat Valencia to reach the final as they attempt to defend their title, while Barca, who last won the competition in 2018, defeated Real Betis 4-2 on penalties to reach the final.

After 16 games, Barcelona are currently at the top of the La Liga rankings with 41 points while Real Madrid are placed second with 38 points. Xavi Hernandez’s squad is unbeaten in their last eight games across all competitions while Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid have one of their four games since returning from the World Cup.

It appears that Carlo Ancelotti will have a few headaches for the final. He will be forced into making a change at right-back as Lucas Vazquez is set for over a month out with an injury suffered in the penalty shoot-out semi-final game against Valencia. Eder Militao is also expected to miss the game as he suffered a concussion during the game.

However, there are no injury concerns for Hernandez but he could be tempted into making a few changes with some of his players underperforming against Betis. Ousmane Dembele was taken off just after the hour mark on Thursday, but that was just a precaution.
