World number one Twenty20 bowler Rashid Khan has been re-signed by English county side Sussex for next year’s T20 Blast, reported AFP.

Although Khan played for the county in 2018 and 2019, he did not return this year due to calendar clashes related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Afghanistan leg-spinner recently passed the 300-wicket mark in T20 cricket and played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, however was eliminated by Delhi Capitals in the play-offs. 

According to ESPN, Khan took 20 wickets for SRH this season at an economy of just 5.37. For Sussex, he has taken 24 wickets in 18 innings, helping them reach the knockout stage in both the season he played. 

He said, “I am really happy to be heading back to Sussex for the 2021 Blast. Ever since my arrival on the south coast in 2018, it has felt like a home away from home for me.”

Newly appointed Sussex’s T20 head coach James Kirtley said, “To secure the services of Rashid next season is amazing. He would be on any team’s wish list around the world, so for Sussex to have him playing next year is awesome.”
