India are set to take on Afghanistan in the Group 2 Super 12 match at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. India will be looking to bounce back following two defeats in two T20 World Cup matches so far. Qualifying for the semis will be extremely difficult. They need to win their final three games and hope that the rest of the decisions fall in their favour.

India’s batsmen have failed them. With a crucial 59 from Virat Kohli against Pakistan, they were able to gain some respectability, but against New Zealand they were unable to gain any momentum and could only manage 110/7. With 33 balls and eight wickets to spare, New Zealand easily chased it down.

India’s bowling has also been disappointing, with only two wickets taken in two games. The bowlers must also rise to the occasion and perform well. Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja have failed to make an impact. Rahul Chahar, a wrist spinner, or R Ashwin, could be inducted.

On the other hand, Afghanistan have won two of their three games. Two of them were comfortable wins against Scotland and Namibia, which have propped up their run rate. They outplayed Pakistan and forced them to fight hard for their win.

Going into this game, their spinners will be crucial. Their chances of qualifying will improve if they win.
