England produced a superlative performance to make light work of the Australian cricket team in a Super 12 group 1 match of the ICC men’s T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, on October 30. England, powered by their bowlers and batters, thumped a weak-looking Australian side by 8 wickets in just 11.4 overs.

Outclassed in every department, Australia registered two unwanted records against its name. It not only recorded the second-lowest powerplay totals in T20 World Cup, but it also recorded its third-lowest in the T20 World Cups.

In the game, while Australia registered a low powerplay total, England recorded the highest powerplay total in the T20 World Cup, at 66/0. The previous was held by Australia (63/0) that they scored against Sri Lanka.

As far as the match is concerned, Australia were invited to bat after England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss.

England bowlers were too hot to handle for the Aussie team as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay. David Warner, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell.

Following that, captain Aaron Finch scored a calculated 44 off 49 runs as he motored his team forward. Apart from Finch, Ashton Agar (20 off 20) was the second-highest run-scorer.

A couple of sixes in the death overs by Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc helped the team breach the 100-run mark as they were wrapped up for 125 in 20 overs.

For England, Chris Jordan starred with the ball, returning with figures of 3/17 in 4 overs. Apart from Jordan, Chris Woakes and Tymal Mills returned with two wickets each.

Jordan was also adjudged the man of the match.

In reply, England opener Jos Buttler remained unbeaten on 71 off 32 balls as his team crossed the victory line.

For Australia, Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar returned with one wicket apiece.
