Australia’s win against Pakistan on Thursday in the semi-finals ensured that the T20 World Cup is set to see a new winner. The Kangaroos will face New Zealand in the final of the marquee tournament on Sunday.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade came up with a barrage of sixes to script Australia’s sensational comeback against Babar Azam’s Pakistan. The Aussies registered a five-wicket victory. Wade was dropped on the third ball of the 19th over before he smashed three consecutive sixes to seal the game. Opener David Warner played a 49-run hand and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis scored 41. In the end, Australia, who are yet to win a T20 World Cup title, got home with an over to spare.

Just like their opponents of Sunday’s game, New Zealand too are yet to wear the T20 crown. Kane Williamson’s men pulled off a heist to upstage England by five wickets after opener Daryl Mitchell’s heroics and James Neesham’s blitzkrieg. Opener Mitchell blazed his away to an unbeaten 47-ball 72, while Neesham smashed 27 in just 11 deliveries. In between, Devon Conway made an invaluable 46 off 38 balls as New Zealand chased down a target of 167 with six balls to spare.

The two sides, who played the 2015 50-over World Cup final, will meet hoping to seal their first T20I World Cup title.
