The Indian cricket team, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, are one of the leading contenders of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. The Men in Blue are placed in Group B along with rivals Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh. The Indian skipper looked in form in the last two series against Australia and South Africa, however failed to convert his starts into big scores.

1. Most T20I sixes in a T20 World Cup for India:
Sharma can overtake ex-India all rounder Yuvraj Singh to hit the most number of sixes in a T20 World Cup for India. Rohit Sharma has hit 31 sixes in 33 innings, two less than Singh, who hit 33 sixes in 31 innings. Overall in international cricket, Chris Gayle leads the list, having smashed 63 sixes in 33 innings for the West Indies. Singh and Sharma are second and third respectively.
2. Most fours in T20Is:
The Indian skipper can also break this record, but unlike the previous record, he faces cut-throat competition here. All batters in the top seven in the list are going to be featuring in the World Cup, and the difference in number of boundaries between them is also not wide. Paul Sterling (344) of Ireland leads the list, followed by Babar Azam (342), Rohit Sharma (337), Virat Kohli (331), Martin Guptill (309), Aaron Finch (303) and David Warner (289).

3. Most matches played in a T20 World Cup:
Rohit Sharma, who was also a part of the Indian squad that won the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa, has had 35 appearances for India in T20 World Cups. He is likely to break Tillakaratne Dilshan’s record 35 appearances, as India will play three matches in the group stage itself.
4. Most runs scored in T20 World Cup:
Rohit Sharma can also break Sri Lanka legend Mahela Jayawardene’s record of 1016 runs, which he hit between 2007 and 2014. The Run Machine has the most runs in T20 World Cups for India, scoring 847 runs in 30 innings, with a strike rate of 132.

5. Most player of the match awards in T20I:
The Team India-skipper has won 12 player of the match awards in T20I cricket. He is second on the list, which is lead by Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and ex-India skipper Virat Kohli, both of whom have won the honour 13 times.
6. Second-most matches in T20I as Indian captain:
Rohit has till now lead the Men in Blue in 45 matches in his T20I career. He can overtake Kohli (50 matches) to lead India in second-most number of matches matches as captain. Captain Cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni leads the list with 72 matches.
