Tampa Bay Bucaneers quarterback Tom Brady was on Sunday called for an unsportsmanlike conduct during the NFL divisional round game against the Los Angeles Rams at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

The three-time NFL MVP vented his frustration at the referee for a lack of flag after being hit by Rams pass rusher Von Miller. Brady got a busted lip after he was hit by Miller’s helmet and was distraught at the move not being penalised.

However, Brady’s effervescent exchange with referee Shawn Hochuli landed him and his team in trouble, prompting a 15-yard penalty for the Bucs and what is reportedly the first unsportsmanlike conduct of the 44-year-old’s illustrious career.

Another reason for the Bucs quarterback’s frustration could be 17-3 lead the Rams had established heading into half-time. The two sides are facing off for a place in the NFC Championships.

This comes days after Brady had admitted he often gets away with unsportsmanlike conduct.

“I do know that (the officials) probably let me get away with a lot of unsportsmanlike conducts, talking smack to the other team and talking smack to the refs when I don’t think I get the right call,” Brady said on his “Lets Go!” podcast.

Brady further said he was ” kind of a pain in their ass if you don’t already know that”, perhaps drawing unnecessary attention on himself and getting himself into the referee’s bad books.

Brady also said he thinks opponent defenders do not get enough roughing the passer penalties for tackling him. This came as a surprise to many fans as there is a running joke that even if one breathes on Brady, they could be flagged for roughing the passer.

“I always hear that to different degrees about getting penalties and so forth and roughing the passers. They say that, and I’m always in my mind going, ‘I don’t remember the last time I got a roughing the passer.’,
