Tom Brady is contemplating whether he wants to come back for the 2022 NFL season. The quarterback, one of the greatest in the sports history, is vying to win a second super bowl with Tampa Bay Buccaneers this year as they host Los Angeles Rams in the NFC playoffs on Sunday.

Brady had said that he would like to play until age 45 and perhaps beyond, and performance has not been an issue. As per ESPN reports, the 44-year-old is planning to take “a month or longer” to decide whether to play in 2022.

The report adds that there’s “internal uncertainty” within the Buccaneers about what Brady will do. The team doesn’t have an alternative at quarterback and would “be willing to bend over backward” to convince Brady to continue playing.

The Los Angeles Rams have defeated Tampa in the regular season.

“I think all of these games are little bit independent from one another. Yeah, we played them earlier in the year, but it’s a very different team we had, and I think a little bit of a different team they had, too, so they are each their own individual type of game,” Brady said of Tampa Bay’s recent success in the playoffs against opponents that beat them earlier in the season.

Brady’s New England Patriots teammate linebacker Rob Ninkovich on ESPN’s “Get Up” said that it “wouldn’t surprise” him if Brady retired.

“Right now, Tom is in bonus time. How many 44-year-old quarterbacks have we seen throw for the amount of yards and touchdowns [he has]?” Ninkovich said.

“He’ll be 45 in August. So, at this point right now, what else does he have to prove to anybody? What else does he have to check off the list? What is his legacy? The best quarterback to ever play, so it wouldn’t shock me [if he retired].”

Brady has led the season with a career-high 5,316 yards passing and 43 touchdowns while completing 67.5% of his passes.
