Wriddhiman Saha stamped his class with a 45-ball 87 before Rashid Khan dished out a clinical bowling performance as Sunrisers Hyderabad kept themselves alive in the race for IPL playoffs with a whopping 88-run win over Delhi Capital on Tuesday. Asked to bat first, magnificent knocks by Saha (87), captain David Warner (66), and Manish Pandey (44) powered Sunrisers to 219 for two.

India cricket great Sachin Tendulkar led the congratulatory messages for the wicketkeeper-batsman.

“Very smart batting by @Wriddhipops!

Improvised his shots after picking the line and length of the ball. There was no slogging at all. Played a fantastic innings which I thoroughly enjoyed watching,” Tendulkar tweeted.

Saha, adjudged man of the match, said that he took his chances in the powerplay and went after it after the pitch eased out.

“I got the opportunity for the second time this year and took my chances in the powerplay. Initially, the ball was holding a bit but I took my chances and went after it after the pitch eased out. I’m happy I got selected for the Tests in Australia. We are looking forward to win the last two matches for the Sunrisers and that’s our target now,” Saha said in the post-match presentation.

Star Afghanistan spinner Rashid led a fine bowling display to end the match with the impressive figures of 4-0-7-3, his best this season. The young player bowled an astonishing 17 dot balls in his quota of four overs, helping his side bowl out the Capitals for 131 in 19 overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (10 points) have now moved up to sixth from seventh position with this win, while the Delhi Capitals, who slumped to their third consecutive loss, were pushed down to the third spot with 14 points.
