With China racing ahead in the Tokyo Olympics
medal tally with 29 gold medals, the United States will have to go into day 12
of the Summer Games with a full throttle to catch-up. Team USA has left hosts
Japan behind and solidified their position at the second spot in the tally with
22 golds.

Star gymnast Simone Biles, who had pulled out
of previous finals, is expected to fight for gold in the Women’s balance beam
final. Sam Mikulak will be in Men’s parallel bars final.

Brittney Reese will be in contention for a
gold medal in the Women’s long jump final while Rai Benjamin will fight for
gold in the Men’s 400m hurdles Final.

Team USA will take on Spain in the Men’s
Basketball quarter-finals.

Andrew Capobianco will be seen in the Men’s 3m
springboard Semi-final. Duke Ragan will try to set up a gold medal match when
he features in the Boxing Men’s featherweight Semi-final.

The Women’s Beach volleyball quarter-final
will see Team USA take on Germany. Women’s Water polo quarters will see the US
take on neighbours Canada.

Other sports that will see US athletes in
action will be sailing, Sports climbing, Track cycling and weightlifting.

The US are currently trailing China on gold
medals in the Olympics medal tally. America has a total of 64 medals, two more
than China, but have 22 golds compared to China’s 29.

US athletes have also won
25 and 17 silver and bronze medals respectively. China has 17 and 16 silver and
bronze medals.

Japan are third in the medal tally, with 17
golds, with Australia in fourth with 14. The Russian Olympic Committee are
fifth with 12 gold medals.
