Tottenham coach Antonio Conte has suggested that he’s open to working with Christian Eriksen again. The Danish midfielder has spent recent times on the sideline after suffering a cardiac arrest in the Euro 2020 match in June, where Denmark went up against Finland.

Eriksen had a club career at Inter Milan, but that’s ruled out now due to Serie A rules which won’t allow him to play with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) attached to his heart.

However, Eriksen had expressed a wish to return to professional football and he’s done just that signing a new deal with English Premier League side, Brentford. The six-month contract will see Eriksen stay on till the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Conte has not ruled out the possibility of re-signing Eriksen, if he puts up an impressive performance at Brentford. The Danish pro had left Spurs to join Inter in 2020.

When Conte was asked if the club had considered signing Eriksen in the January transfer window, he said they hadn’t. Further, the manager expressed surprise at Eriksen’s decision to return to the field so soon. Metro reported Conte saying that in his mind, Eriksen needed more time before returning to England.

Further, Conte added, “But now he’s signed for Brentford. Only six months, and we’ll see what happens. I’m the first person to be happy to see him again on the pitch because we spent a really good time at Inter Milan together. We won the league, we spent two important seasons together. I wish him all the best for the future. And you don’t know what will happen. It would be good for me to have him again, to work together again”.
