Tottenham Hotspur did not have a great start to the new year as they lost 2-0 to Aston Villa in the Premier League. Spurs were slow throughout the match and lacked the intent to cause some serious damage to Villa.
Fans of the North London club are naturally not happy with their performance and have taken to singing “Daniel Levy get out of the club” at their home stadium.
Watch it right here:
OptaJoe reports that Spurs have now conceded at least two goals in their last seven league games, nearing their run in the 1988 season.
To open their account, Emiliano Buendia took advantage of a mistake by Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal, and Douglas Luiz doubled the lead to give Villa their second straight-away league victory.
Villa’s victory stretched Emery’s unbeaten streak against Tottenham to four games and added to the anguish for Antonio Conte’s team, which has now slid to sixth in the Premier League table after conceding first in its previous ten games.

Also in today’s Premier League games, Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the top four were derailed to a certain extent as they were kept at a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.
After gaining the lead on Raheem Sterling’s goal, the Blues appeared in control for the majority of the first half.
However, Forest was rewarded for taking a more proactive stance in the second half when they made nine attempts on goal to Chelsea’s one, and they levelled the score on minute 63 thanks to Serge Aurier’s magnificent chest and volley.
