Switzerland has kept its hopes alive in the UEFA Nations League after the win against Spain. They remain at the third spot with six points while Spain retains their second spot with eight points.

Spain is known to play possession-oriented football and they lived up to it by keeping 75% possession throughout the match. They played 802 passes in 90 minutes, but it took a stunning top-corner finish by Jordi Alba to register their only goal.

Although the Swiss were mostly subdued by Spain with their possession play, the Spanish defense crumbled before their well-prepared set pieces. Both the Swiss goals in the match came from set pieces.

The second goal, which came off Eric Garcia and slipped into the net eluding goalkeeper Unai Simon, surprised even the commentators. There were eight Spanish defenders against one Swiss striker, but still, it somehow crossed the goal line.

Luis Enrique, the Spain manager, later introduced Marcos Llorente and Borja Iglesias but could not salvage the situation. While they were dominant in the midfield, their woes upfront drags on from the Euro 2020.
