UFC superstar Conor McGregor was arrested on Tuesday in Ireland for driving dangerously.

He was reportedly arrested for several traffic violations, and a date for a court hearing has been set for next month.

The news of McGregor’s arrest was first broken by the Irish Independent, which reported that the 33-year-old was detained in Dublin on Tuesday while he was driving around the city in his $170,000 Bentley Continental GT.

The 33-year-old was reportedly cruising along the N4 between Lucan and Palmerstown when he caught the attention of the police.

He was subsequently pulled over by the police and detained at the Lucan garda station, while his pricey ride was impounded.

However, the Irish Independent reported that McGregor was later released on bail, while his Bentley Continental GT was also returned to him.

A spokesperson for McGregor also told the Independent that the 33-year-old had cleared drug and alcohol tests: “Mr McGregor was driving to the gym when he was stopped by gardaí for alleged road traffic violations. He passed the drug and alcohol tests taken at the station,” said the spokesperson.

McGregor will now have to appear before the Blanchardstown district court next month to plead his case. He had previously appeared at the same court in 2017 for a traffic violation, for which he was charged  €400 as a fine.

The 33-year-old, however, is no stranger to legal troubles and has 18 convictions to his name, mostly for traffic-related offences. In 2019, however, McGregor was fined €1,000 after he pleaded guilty to the common assault of a man at the Marble Arch pub in Dublin in April that year.

Dangerous driving, however, is a different ballgame altogether and carries a fine up to €5,000 or six months imprisonment, or both.
