WWE Network

One of his most definitive moments as the CEO of WWE came in 2014, when Vince set up a digital subscription service, the WWE Network. Similar to HBO Max, Hulu or Disney+, the service offers a huge catalogue of wrestling matches to the subscribers.

His gambling paid dividends when NBC paid a handsome amount to add to their service in 2021.

Buying WCW

The WWE CEO and Chairman decided to buy WCW from Ted Turner, which ended the Monday Night Wars. During the 80s, WWE and WCW took each other head on in a ratings battle. After being beaten by WCW in ratings for 80 consecutive weeks, WWE began to catch up. The Fingerpoke of Doom played a major role in WWE’s comeback.

Starting The Attitude Era

Arguably the most successful time in the history of pro wrestling, viewers love the Attitude Era for its television ratings and impact on pop culture. The emergence of Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) and D-Generation X made it hugely popular.

As a result, Wrestlemania was compared to the SuperBowl for many years for its impact.

Making Roman Reigns a heel

One of the most important decisions that Vince ever took in charge of WWE was to make Roman Reigns a heel. While Vince wanted to make Roman a face, the fans protested over the decision.

The protests followed by the fans and viewers booing him for several years. It was then when Vince decided to turn Reigns into a heel in 2020. SmackDown became even more popular with Reigns as a heel, which he continues even now.
