Virat Kohli,
one of India’s most successful batters to have ever played the gentleman’s
game, scored a solid 60 runs of 44 balls to take the Indian side to a
substantial 181 in their 20 overs. While India did get a solid start its
opening Rohit Sharma-KL Rahul pair, it was Kohli who tied the innings together.
But this is not
the first time for the former India captain. The 33-year-old has consistently
performed well against Pakistan, and while questions were being asked of him
prior to the Asia Cup, Kohli’s performance in the tournament has shut all
critics up.

Virat Kohli scored
60 in the Super 4s India versus Pakistan match. Prior to that, Kohli scored an
unbeaten 59 runs of 44 balls. In India’s first Asia Cup match, which the
Men-in-Blue also played against Pakistan, Kohli scored a mature 35. Kohli now
has an average of 51.33 in Asia Cup 2022 having scored 154 runs.
Virat Kohli is
India’s leading run-scorer against Pakistan in T20 internationals. Kohli has
played eight T20I matches against Pakistan and has scored 371 runs. On Sunday,
he scored his fourth half-century against Pakistan in the shorter format. His
highest score against Pakistan till date is 78 not-out, which he scored in the
2012 ICC T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli has
also hit the maximum number of runs against Pakistan in T20 World Cups. In the
four World Cup T20I matches he has played against the Men-in-Green, Kohli has
scored 226 runs in four matches – 57 (2021), 55* (2016), 36* (2014) and 78*
(2012).
The numbers
show how Virat Kohli has come out on top every time India have taken on
arch-rivals Pakistan. While the numbers do tell the story of Kohli’s superior
performance against Pakistan, India team coach Rahul Dravid said, “…With Virat,
people get a little bit obsessed with his statistics and his numbers. For us,
it’s not really about that.”
“For us, it’s
about the contributions he can make in different phases of the game and what
the contribution is. It doesn’t have to be in fifties or hundreds or a stat,”
said Rahul Dravid.
