“I am excited to get back to the Cricket ground again. Having Adani Group as Team Principal and a professional outfit like Gujarat Giants is a perfect way to kick start this cricketing innings once again,” Sehwag said.

Sehwag is known widely for his aggressive batting during his long career and the 43-year-old said he looks forward to implementing the idea in the upcoming edition. The former India international also said that he is looking forward to the players’ draft.

The second season of the Legends League Cricket will be organised in India and is expected to have more legendary cricketers participating.

“I have always believed cricket is a team game and a captain is as good as his team. While I will be leading the India Capitals team, I will be pushing for a spirited team who are passionate and eager to go out and win as a team,” Gambhir said.

The cricketer-turned-politician also wished the league the best and said he is looking forward to the upcoming season.

The second season of the Legends League Cricket will have four teams, all owned by franchisees. The inaugural season had a three-franchise model and the increase in the number of teams has ensured at least 16 matches. The upcoming season will also be dedicated to India’s 75th year of Independence, the league has confirmed.

The upcoming edition will begin on September 16 with an Independence Day special match between India Maharajas and World Giants at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. The rest of the matches will be organised in Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack and Jodhpur. However, the venues for the playoffs and the final are yet to be announced.
