Seeking their first win in the Premier League, Liverpool tore apart the Bournemouth defence in the first half of their game at Anfield, scoring two goals. Luis Diaz (3′) and Harvey Elliot (6′) were the goalscorers for the home team, with Roberto Firmino providing assists for both the goals. This was the first time since their March 1996 game vs Aston Villa that Liverpool scored twice inside the first six minutes of a single Premier League game.

They again scored two goals in three minutes. Trent Alexander-Arnold gave Liverpool their third in the 28th minute. And like before, Firmino again provided the assist. Then, the Brazilian followed up his three assists with a goal in the 31st minute to give Liverpool their fourth goal of the game.

And when it seemed when Liverpool exhausted their firepower, defender Virgil van Dijk scored a header off an Andrew Robertson corner in the 45th minute to give the home team their fifth and the final goal of the first half.

Earlier in the game, Jurgen Klopp made a single change in the starting lineup, replacing Milner with Fabinho in the midfield. In case Liverpool give up their lead or worse lose; it will be the first time since it begins the league with four winless games since the 2012-13 season (they had failed to win any of their first five games that season).

However, the probability of that happening is close to zero since Liverpool have won their last six games against Bournemouth. The aggregate score of Liverpool’s previous six Premier League victories over Bournemouth is 19-1.

With the exception of a 2-2 draw in the Premier League in April 2017, Bournemouth has lost seven of its eight away meetings against Liverpool in all competitions. Also, Bournemouth has dropped 13 of their previous 15 away Premier League games. The exceptions are their 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in December 2019 and a 3-1 victory over Everton on Merseyside.
