The 24-year-old wide receiver had a chance at winning the game on 4th down in the final moments of the fourth quarter. However, he bobbled a pass from quarterback Justin Fields on the goal line and was pushed back. While he made the reception at the end, he came short of the end zone.

Darnell Mooney ended the game with 7 receptions out of 12 targets for 68 yards, 3 first downs and an average of 9.7 yards per reception. Meanwhile, Justin Fields, the Chicago Bears quarterback who initiated the pass, made 14 successful passes out of 27 attempts for 190 yards and registered 1 touchdown and 1 interception in the game.

Mooney was pushed back by Washington Commanders cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, who denied him the chance of winning the game for the Bears. St-Juste registered 3 tackles, two of which were solo and one assisted, in the game.

The bobbled catch by Mooney comes only days after he made an amazing reception against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5, which could go on to become the NFL’s Catch of the Year.

The Chicago Bears will be travelling to face the New England Patriots in their next game in Week 7 on October 24.
