The Indian cricket team arrived in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe on Saturday, August 13, to play in a three-match ODI series against the African side. In absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul will be leading the Indian team while Shikhar Dhawan will act as his deputy in the matches.

The first of the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe will begin on August 18 in Harare. The other two matches are slated to take place on August 20 and August 22 at the same venue.

Zimbabwe Cricket posted a video of the Indian cricket team players arriving at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Saturday evening. Some of the players were seen wearing masks, however, the others were not. Team India would receive a single day to practice and acclimatise to the conditions before they face the hosts in the first match on August 18.

“They are here now . . . ?? have just landed in Harare ahead of the three-match ODI series against ?? scheduled for 18, 20 and 22 August at Harare Sports Club,” the tweet was captioned.

Similar to the squad against West Indies, India have named several reserve players in the ODI series against Zimbabwe. Regulars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested while Jasprit Bumrah is recuperating from an injury picked up against England in July. The team also has several youngsters such as Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Washington Sundar. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has also returned to the squad after being deemed fit.

The likes of Ishan Kishan and Axar Patel will also look to impress the Indian selectors after they were omitted from India’s Asia Cup 2022 squad. After the conclusion of the series against the African side, the Men in Blue will fly to UAE to participate in the Asia Cup 2022, which begins on August 28.
