Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts made headlines on Monday, September 19, 2022, when he made a 53-yard touchdown pass to Quez Watkins against the Minnesota Vikings to help his side take a 14-0 lead. He has completed all 10 of his passing attempts in the game till now for 153 yards and one touchdown. 

The 24-year-old has been touted as the Philadelphia Eagles’ future quarterback and he did not disappoint on Monday night. His 53-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Quez Watkins, who was open, received applauds from many as the Eagles took a 14-0 lead in the third quarter.

The quarterback’s 10 successive pass completions were also the most to begin a game in his NFL career. He now also has the second most pass completion rate (.500) among all quarterbacks who were drafted in 2020, behind only Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins (.652). Hurts is also ahead of other quarterbacks like Justin Herbert (.471) and Joe Burrow (.446).

This was also the first time when Jalen Hurts had the same play caller in consecutive seasons since high school. At the time of writing this article, Hurts has successfully made 17 passes out of 20 attempts for 251 yards, 1 touchdown with a rating of 135.4, 7 carries for 50 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Hurts shone in the first half against the Minnesota Vikings as he led the team on an 11-play and 82-yard drive while connecting with DeVonta Smith, Kenneth Gainwell, Zach Pascal, Dallas Goedert and AJ Brown.

In the Eagles’ second touchdown drive against the Vikings, Hurts completed five passes and the 53-yard touchdown pass. The Eagles led 21-7 at halftime, while the Vikings had the kickoff in the third quarter.

Hurts has completed 360 out of 612 passes in his NFL career (58.8%) for 4,448 yards, 22 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions.
