Ravindra Jadeja managed to score a stunning 98m six during India’s chase of Pakistan’s 147 at the 2022 Asia Cup. Jadeja came out to bat after the dismissal of Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Jadeja was his usual flamboyant self with the bat.

India started their innings in a wobbly fashion, with KL Rahul going out for a duck in the second ball of this innings. Notably, it was also the second ball in the senior career of Pakistan rookie Naseem Shah. Later in the match, Shah also picked up the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav.

The two pillars of the Indian batting order, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, had a steady partnership going for them before Sharma got out to a Mohammad Nawaz delivery. The India skipper was looking to strike the ball for a six at the long off but ended up mistiming it. Iftikhar Ahmed took the catch.

Only a few balls later, Kohli got dismissed in a similar fashion, and it was the duo of Nawaz and Ahmed that proved deadly for the talismanic batter.

Jadeja got dismissed during the last over of the match. He was bowled by a short ball from Mohammad Nawaz. Jadeja wanted to swipe the ball for a six, but missed.

However, at the end of the day, the job was done by a clean Hardik Pandya six. Pandya’s crucial 33 runs and his three wickets helped him in being adjudged the Man of The Match. It was a solid match between equals and although India managed to come out on top, Pakistan did put up a strong fight. In the post-match interview, Pakistan captain Babar Azam admitted that they were 10-15 runs short of the desired total.

India and Pakistan will both face Hong Kong in their next Asia Cup matches. India will face the island city on August 31 and Pakistan will be up against them on September 2.
