Gill has performed admirably in the absence of captain Rohit Sharma, who has been rested for the ongoing ODI series. However, Sharma will be back for the five-match T20I series, and it is tough to say whether Gill will be rewarded for his impressive performance then.

India face West Indies in a five-match T20I series, beginning on July 29.
