McCaffrey is key for the Panthers. He is one of the three players ever to record 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. Last season, the 26-year-old had suffered an ankle injury in a Week 12 game against the Miami Dolphins. The injury kept McCaffrey out of the remainder of the season. Inspite of that, he had finished the 2021 season with 442 rushing yards, 343 receiving yards, and two total touchdowns in seven games.

It was unclear at first whether the RB will feature in the Panthers’ season opener, after he had a cut on the shin as a result of contact with a cleat. The first quarter ended scoreless after both teams failed to make use of oppurtunites. However, it was the Browns who opened the accounts, scoring two consecutive TDs. The first TD came when Jacoby Brissett passed to Kareem Hunt to the right for 1 yard touchdown. The second one came when Kareem Hunt rushed up the middle for 24 yard touchdown. At the end of second quarter, the Browns led the Panthers 17-7.
