Christian Eriksen’s contract with Inter Milan has been terminated after a mutual agreement between both parties, since Italian law prevents the Danish midfielder from playing with an implanted defibrillator, in Serie A.

Eriksen has been working hard to return to professional football after suffering the cardiac arrest during Euro 2020. Currently, he is hopeful about resuming his career, and several clubs have been in contact too. His agent, Martin Schoots, has asserted that the midfielder’s future is bright, attesting “He is working really hard, and I’m glad that he was able to do that during the last few months in silence”.

He said, “We had so many requests for interviews, documentaries – all kinds of initiatives – especially from the UK. He is still so popular in Britain and not only with Spurs fans, not only for his fantastic football skills, but also for his social and humble personality.” Eriksen’s presence is probably felt most in Tottenham Hotspur, and two years after his departure, they are still looking for his replacement. His long-time agent has read this as a compliment of Eriksen’s skill and personality, which make him hard to replace.

The agent also added “You hardly could blame Spurs that they struggle to find a player who has the qualities to become the League’s top assist-maker, helping them to reach three Champions League qualifications in a row and the Champions League final. There are simply not too many of those players, and there is always competition with other clubs to sign them.”

Going by the way Schoots has highlighted Eriksen’s time with Tottenham, a move back might be on the cards. For now, two things are certain – Eriksen cannot continue in Serie A due to a decades old rule, and he won’t move to another continent due to family reasons.
