Denver Nuggets won its first NBA championship in franchise history on Monday night, as the Nuggets battled through terrible shooting and a late surge by Miami’s Jimmy Butler to defeat the Heat in a tense 94-89 triumph in Game 5. Nikola Jokic led Denver to the victory.
Jokic led the Nuggets with 28 points and 16 rebounds, and he was named NBA Finals MVP. He will undoubtedly value this award more than his two overall MVPs from 2021 and ’22.

On a night when none of his teammates could score, he saved the Nuggets by going 12 for 16 from the field. Denver managed to win the series at home despite missing 20 of its first 22 3-point attempts and seven of its first 13 free throws.
With 2:45 remaining and the Heat behind by seven, Butler scored eight straight points to help the team take an 87-86 lead. With 1:58 left, he added two more free throws to give Miami a one-point advantage once more. The Nuggets then took the lead permanently after Bruce Brown’s offensive rebound and tip-in.

The fans can attend the Denver Nuggets’ championship parade and join the stars in celebrating.
The pre-rally, which will feature live music and a highlight video of the Nuggets’ season, will start at 9 a.m. on June 15th in Civic Center, according to the franchise.
Then comes the big event: a rally will take place in Civic Center after the parade, which starts at 10 a.m. from Union Station.
If the Avalanche celebration from the previous year is any indication, players will be sipping on something while basking in the adoration of thousands of ardent fans.
