About Shawn Kemp-

In the NBA, Kemp is regarded as one of the “what if” stars. Kemp might have been a dependable success and future Hall of Famer if not for controversy off the court.

He gave in to the burden of having seven children between six women, and he also struggled to be physically prepared for training camps. The latter part of Kemp’s NBA tenure saw him struggle with drug and alcohol abuse as well.

When Kemp reached his professional zenith, making 18 and 10 over several years, problems began to emerge. Since joining the Cavaliers in 2017, he spent his finest years in Cleveland. Up until his final season with the team in 2000, Kemp continued to uphold his image as an 18-point-per-game scorer.

When Shawn Kemp joined the Portland Trail Blazers, his output drastically decreased. He scored 6.5 points on average in 2000, 6.1 points in 2001, and 6.8 points in 2002 while playing for the Orlando Magic. Kemp’s physical inefficiency during his final seasons with Seattle was the beginning of his problems, which persisted throughout his time with the Cavs, Trail Blazers, and Magic.
