With the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night, Andy Reid is on his way to cementing his legacy much like Bill Belichik.

Reid is only the second head coach to have ever won more than 50 games with three different quarterbacks in their career, the only other person being Don Shula who was the coach for the Miami Dolphins for most of his career.

After graduating from BYU, he spent a year as a graduate assistant on the coaching staff. Over the next nine years, he worked as an offensive line coach with four colleges. Reid went to work with the Green Bay Packers in 1992 as an assistant coach. He later went on to become the team’s quarter back coach working with NFL legend Brett Favre.

He moved on to work with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999 beginning his stint as a head coach. Reid became the second youngest head coach after Jon Gruden. One of his first decisions with the team was to draft quarterback Donovan McNabb. During his stint, Reid ensured that the Eagles made it to Football Conference’s Eastern Division championship games from 2001 to 2004. Eventually the team made it to Super Bowl XXIX in 2005, but lost to the New England Patriots.

Reid has been with the Kansas City Chiefs since 2013, taking the team from strength to strength despite some early setbacks, which included a particularly bad start to the 2015 season.

Since 2018, however, he has become a more permanent fixture on the team, making use of the talent of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs clinched the AFC West title for the third time in a row, hosting the AFC Championship game which they lost to the New England Patriots. It was also that season that Reid became one of only nine NFL coaches to win 200 games.

Reid is married with five children: three sons and two daughters. His oldest son died of a drug overdose in 2012 while his youngest son worked alongside him as a coach for the Chiefs before not being offered a contract extension 2020.
