Good news for Argentina fans as Angel Di Maria is fit again before
the FIFA World Cup semi-final match against Croatia.
Argentina’s manager, Lionel Scaloni, has confirmed that Angel Di Maria and Rodrigo de Paul, who were dealing with injuries, are now fit to play and will be available
for the upcoming semi-final against Croatia and hopefully take the team to the finals of FIFA World
Cup 2022.
Di Maria was benched for the round of 16 match
against Australia due to a thigh injury. Even in the quarter-final match
against the Netherlands, he was fielded for eight minutes.
Speculations were that he might not be able to play in the semi-final
match, but Argentina’s manager’s confirmation came as a relief to the team.
Who is Angel Di Maria?
Angel Fabian Di Maria commonly known as Angel Di Maria is a
professional Argentine footballer who plays for the Argentina international team
and for Serie A club Juventus. He is nicknamed “Fideo” by his fans which
means noodles. He is a winger and an attacking midfielder.
He was born on February 14, 1988, in Rosario, Argentina. He started
his career with Rosario Central but then moved to Benfica. Since then, he has played for Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain. He then joined
Juventus in 2022. He made his senior international debut for Argentina as a 20-year-old in 2008. He has been a part of four editions of the FIFA World
Cup, and was the one to score the winning goal for his country and won Gold
at the 2008 Olympics.
He played for Argentina and won the under-20 FIFA World Cup in 2007. he was also a part of the runner-up team in the under-20 South American Championship in 2007.
apart from that, he won the Copa America in 2021 and was runner-up in 2015 and 2016.
He was also a part of the Argentina team who were runners-up in the FIFA World Cup 2014. Di Maria won the 2021 Copa America with Argentina and the CONMEBOL_UEFA Cup of Champions in 2022.
