Brian Harman defeated every obstacle in the British Open, including well-known players and unfavorable weather, and his triumph at Royal Liverpool on Sunday cemented his status as a major champion. He is the oldest first-time major champion at 36 years old since Sergio Garcia, who won the Masters at age 37 in 2017.

Who is Brian Harman?
Brian Harman is an American professional golfer. On January 19, 1987, he was born in Savannah, Georgia, in the USA. Harman enjoyed a prosperous amateur career while playing college golf at the University of Georgia.
Harman joined the PGA Tour after turning professional in 2012. He has demonstrated his abilities and talent on the golf course by winning several tournaments on the PGA Tour. Brian Harman is well-recognized for his iron accuracy and technique, and he has consistently performed well on tours.
He has three victories on the PGA Tour, including a major title win at the 2023 Open Championship. Additionally, he finished second at the 2017 U.S. Open.

In college, Harman played golf for the University of Georgia and was a three-time 2nd Team All-American. He won the 2005 NCAA Preview as well as the 2006 Isleworth Invitational. He also earned the yearly prize for the highest Grade Point Average three times.
Harman won the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2003. He captured the Porter Cup in 2007 and the Players Amateur in 2005, shooting a record-setting 22-under 258. Harman was a member of the Walker Cup teams that won in 2005 and 2009, and the Palmer Cup team in 2007.

At the World Wide Technology Championship last year at Mayakoba, Harman finished in second place, four strokes behind winner Russell Henley. This was Harman’s best result on the PGA Tour in more than five years. In his subsequent game at the RSM Classic, he tied for second place, two strokes behind winner Adam Svensson.
At the 2023 Open Championship, Harman won his first major title with a score of -13, six strokes clear of the rest of the field.
In a close ceremony on December 13, 2014, Harman married Kelly Van Slyke. They are now parents of three kids. The family resides in Sea Island, Georgia.
