Evan Mobley is an NBA rookie who is being touted as one of the players who could launch himself into the big leagues this season by starting for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who picked the young player third in the 2021 draft.

Who is Evan Mobley?

The 20-year-old used to play for the USC Trojans while competing in the college-level basketball games and has now made a direct jump to the NBA’s eastern conference. 

Through his sporting career, Mobley has accumulated various accolades. These include Pac-12 Player of the Year (2021), Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year (2021), Consensus second-team All-American (2021), First-team All-Pac-12 (2021), Pac-12 All-Defensive Team (2021), Morgan Wootten National Player of the Year (2020), Pac-12 Freshman of the Year (2021), Pac-12 All-Freshman Team (2021) and McDonald’s All-American (2020).

The average stats of Mobley in the Las Vegas Summer League, where he played three games, were 11.3 points, three assists, 1.7 blocked shots and 7.7 rebounds. According to media reports, in Mobley’s best game so far he added 14 points to his team’s tally in addition to six assists and seven rebounds.

Mobley said in a statement, “Overall, I bring versatility. I feel like that is one of my strong suits so I can be a center or a power forward”, according to reports from The Rookie Wire.

The 20-year-old added, “I can play on the wing a little bit. I feel like that’s where I am going to be most of this year, probably playing inside and outside.

Mobley made his summer league debut earlier this year in August against the Houston Rockets, where even though his team lost, he scored 12 points and managed to secure three blocks and five rebounds in 28 minutes of being on the court.
