As the 2022 FIFA World Cup reaches its climax the world is eager to watch the upcoming semi-finals on December 15 in Doha, Qatar. France, Croatia, Morocco and Argentina are in the semis. Every football fan is enthusiastically waiting to see which side advances for the final.

France, as one of the qualifying teams for the semi-finals, has interested many about the team’s players. The team’s goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, has caught the people’s eyes.

Who is Hugo Lloris?

Born on 26 December, 1986, Lloris is a professional football player. He represents the French National Team and also plays for Premier League Club Tottenham Hotspur. Lloris plays as a goalkeeper.

Lloris started his professional career with his hometown team OGC Nice, where he made his debut in October 2005 as a teenager and advanced to the 2006 Coupe de la Ligue Final. He spent three successful seasons at the club before moving to Olympique Lyonnais. In his first season with Lyon, Lloris won a number of domestic honours; in his second season, he received nomination for awards at the European level for his performances in the UEFA Champions League.

In 2012, he joined Tottenham and assisted the team in reaching the Champions League final in 2019. Lloris competed at the under-18, under-19, and under-21 levels for his country. He participated in the under-19 team that won the 2005 UEFA European Under-19 Championship before transitioning to the senior level. In a friendly matchup against Uruguay in November 2008, he made his senior international debut. 

He captained France to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup, finishing runners-up at the UEFA Euro 2016, and winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He took on the role of captain for the first time in 2010 and was named the team’s first-choice captain on February 28, 2012. He assisted France in their effort to reach the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Lloris is known for his vast experience in the sport. He is well-regarded as a goalkeeper and is often praised for his rapid responses at the goal.
