Jake Bailey is an American football punter in the NFL who plays for the New England Patriots. He was signed by the Patriots as a fifth-round pick (163rd overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Bailey was born in Phoenix Arizona on 18 June 1997. He did his high schooling at Santa Fe Christian High school in Solana Beach California, before heading to Stanford University for his college studies where he played his collegiate football for the Stanford Cardinals from 2015 to 2018. He made history at Stanford hitting the longest punt in the school’s history at 84 yards. He was also a three-time All-Pac-12 honoree and two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention during his time with the Cardinals.

In 2019, Bailey declared for the 2019 NFL draft and was signed by the new England patriots as a fifth-round pick on a four-year contract that was worth $2.8 million. 

In the 2019 pre-season, Bailey competed with Patriots punter Ryan Allen and bested him, thereby sealing his starting position in the team in his rookie campaign itself. During an impressive rookie year, he was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 3 for his performance against the New York Jets. He repeated this feat in week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles where he made five punts of 50+ yards.

The following year he averaged 48.7 gross yards per punt, becoming the first ever punter from the Patriots to be named to the AP All-Pro First Team.

He was also one of three Patriots players to be named to the 2021 Pro Bowl. Due to his appearance in the 2021 Pro Bowl, he will end up earning $3.9 million in 2022 rather than the $2.8 million on his initial contract.
