Ja’Marr Chase is an American Football player who plays the wide receiver position for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. Chase, who was chosen by the Bengals as the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, broke the rookie records for receiving yards in a season and a game. He was subsequently awarded the Offensive Rookie of the Year trophy.

Chase was born on March 1, 2000, in Harvey, Louisiana. He attended Archbishop Rummel High School. He had 115 receptions for 2,152 yards and 30 touchdowns over the course of his school career. Chase committed to play college football at the Louisiana State University Tigers football team after initially committing to the University of Kansas.

Chase participated in all 14 games while a true freshman at LSU in 2018, starting eight of them. He had 23 receptions for 313 yards and three touchdowns by the season’s end. With 1,780 yards on 84 catches (21.2 avg) and 20 receiving touchdowns in 2019(sophomore season), Chase led the FBS in receiving yards after returning as a starter. He set a Southeastern Conference (SEC) record for receiving touchdowns with 20. He also set a record of 221 yards against Clemson in the College Football Playoff championship game.   LSU won the College Football Playoff National Championship and went undefeated for the entire season.

He foregone his junior and senior seasons in college in order to focus on his NFL career. He sat out an entire year because NFL rules state a player can not be drafted until three years after leaving high school.

NFL Career:-

Chase and his college quarterback Joe Burrow were reunited when Chase was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. On June 2, 2021, Chase inked a $30.8 million, four-year rookie contract. On September 12, 2021, Chase played in his first regular-season game against the Minnesota Vikings. He finished with 101 receiving yards and a touchdown as the Bengals prevailed 27-24 in overtime. Chase was named Rookie of the Week in week 5’s Bengals’ 25-22 overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers thanks to his 159 yards, which included a 70-yard touchdown at the end of the first half. Chase recorded 201 receiving yards and an 82-yard touchdown in the Bengals’ 41-17 victory over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7, thereby earning his first-ever AFC Offensive Player of the Week Award.

Chase has been named to the 2022 Pro Bowl roster. Chase totaled 266 receiving yards and three touchdowns in the Bengals’ 34-31 division-clinching win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17. It established the NFL Rookie record for most receiving yards in a game. He was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time. Chase finished his rookie season with 81 receptions for 1,455 yards (4th in the NFL) and 13 touchdown receptions (3rd).

Just a day before the Super Bowl game began, where the Bengals were due to face the Rams, Chase was named the 2021 NFL Offensive Rookie of the year.

En route to Bengal’s Super Bowl Finals campaign, Ja’Marr Chase recorded 25 receptions for 366 yards and one touchdown.
