Naval Crown won on the fifth day of the Royal Ascot in the £1 million equestrian race- the Platinum Jubilee Stakes, by defeating stablemate Creative Force.

Riding Naval Crown was jockey James Doyle. The pair, that flashed past the post on Saturday, was trained by Charlie Appleby.

A month ago, Doyle celebrated his first British Classic Coroebus win in the 2,000 Guineas.

“He was favourite over seven furlongs in Saudi Arabia and ran away with me. We were hopeful dropping back in trip,” Doyle said, according to a report by The Mirror.

However, the following two years were challenging for Doyle, who finished with totals of 28 and 29, while contemplating the idea of pursuing a course in plumbing.

After a slightly downward trajectory, Doyle rose back, this time, stronger than ever. In 2011, he won 76 races in the United Kingdom, and began riding for trainer Roger Charlton.
