With Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, and Scottie Scheffler at the top of the 2023 U.S. Open leaderboard, it appeared like Los Angeles Country Club would celebrate a rising star as their national champion. Instead, in the City of Angels, 29-year-old Wyndham Clark (-10) outlasted the seasoned McIlroy (-9) to win his maiden major tournament and second professional victory.

Clark, whose only previous PGA Tour victory came last month at the Wells Fargo Championship, had not finished higher than T75 in six majors since 2020; in four of those six majors, he did not even make the cut.

Clark is dating Julia Kemmling, a former college golfer and golf coach. Clark, 29, is very private in terms of his personal life, hence his most recent relationship status is unclear.

Clark was photographed kissing Kemmling on the 18th green seconds after winning his first major title at the 2023 US Open. Julia was recently named the team’s assistant coach, reporting to Quinnipiac women’s head coach John O’Connor.

The Connecticut native was instrumental in leading the Bobcats to back-to-back MAAC Championships in 2016 and 2017. Kemmling finished fourth or better in stroke average for Quinnipiac all three years (2015-17).

On May 15, 2017, he shot a season-best 75 (+3) in the NCAA Athens Regional second round, which remains the greatest round in Quinnipiac NCAA Tournament play. Her 42 birdies in 2015-16 were the second-most for a rookie in program history and the second-most by any Quinnipiac athlete in a single season.

Clark won his first major championship at Los Angeles Country Club in 2023.

After 54 holes, he was tied for the lead with Rickie Fowler on 10-under par, one stroke ahead of Rory McIlroy.

Clark has now won twice in his previous four PGA Tour starts.

The American won his first PGA Tour title earlier this season when he won the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow by four strokes.
