Kareem Hunt is an American football running back for the team of the National Football League (NFL). Born on August 6, 1995, he played college football at Toledo and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. On November 30, 2018, the Chiefs cut loose Hunt when he was caught on camera punching and kicking a lady. Cleveland Browns later acquired his services. The RB made a trade request in August 2022, but the team informed him that they would not comply with it.

The Chiefs selected Hunt in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft (86th overall). On August 27, 2017, Hunt was designated the Chiefs’ starting running back after Spencer Ware suffered a knee injury during the third preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks

On September 7, 2017, Hunt played against the New England Patriots in his NFL debut. Despite having never lost a fumble in his college career, Hunt fumbled on his first career NFL carry. Inspite of that the rookie made the record of having the most scrimmage yards in an NFL debut with 246 overall (148 rushing, 98 catching). In his rookie season, he led the league in rushing yards with a total of 1,327 yards.

In the 2018 season, Hunt remained the Chiefs’ starting running back. After a video of Hunt physically attacking a lady and kicking her on the ground surfaced, the Chiefs released Hunt on November 30, 2018. Due to the fact that the incident was looked into as a misdemeanour assault and the victim did not legally file a lawsuit, Hunt was never charged with any crimes. 

On February 11, 2019, the Cleveland Browns acquired Hunt. Hunt was added to the Commissioner’s Exempt list after signing his contract as a result of the NFL’s ongoing investigation into the alleged assault against him. Hunt was punished for breaking the league’s personal conduct policy by receiving an eight-game, no-pay suspension from the NFL on March 15, 2019. Hunt was subsequently included on the Browns’ active roster after the announcement.

Hunt concluded the 2019 year with 37 receptions for 285 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown, and 43 carries for 179 rushing yards. The Browns issued Hunt a restricted free agent tender in the second round on March 16, 2020. The tender was signed by him on April 20, 2020.

Hunt and the Browns agreed to a two-year, $13.25 million contract agreement on September 8, 2020. Hunt asked the Browns for a trade on August 7, 2022, but the organisation turned down his request. Hunt is in the final year of a two-year contract, and his salary for the 2022 campaign is set at $6.25 million. The following offseason, Hunt will be an unrestricted free agency.
