Kurt Angle is a former collegiate wrestler, Olympic gold medallist in American freestyle wrestling, and retired professional wrestler from the United States. He is well known for his work with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and the WWE.

Kurt Steven Angle was born on  December 9, 1968 in Mt. :ebanon, Pennsylvania, USA. He is of Italian, Irish, English, German, and Lithuanian descent. At the age of seven, Kurt Angle began competing in amateur wrestling. As a senior in high school, Angle won the Pennsylvania State Wrestling Championship in 1987.

Angle wrestled as an amateur while he was a student at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He won the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I championship twice, finished second in the nation in 1991, and was named to the NCAA Division I All-American team three times. Angle also won the 1987 USA Junior Freestyle title, the USA Senior Freestyle title twice, and the 1988 USA Junior World Freestyle title from the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles.

The 53-year-old continued to wrestle after graduating from college. At the FILA Wrestling World Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1995, he took home a gold medal. Despite being hurt, he took home the gold in the heavyweight (90-100 kg; 198-220 lb) weight division in the Atlanta Olympics. For his achievements in amateur wrestling, Angle was named as an inductee into the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.

Kurt Angle is best know for his performances in WWE. Angle joined with the World Wrestling Federation (later called WWE) in 1999 after making his debut in professional wrestling in 1996. After only a few days of training, he competed in his debut bout in the developmental system of the organisation in August and took part in his first broadcast WWF storyline in March 1999. He is known for his quick grasp of the business. He won the King of the Ring competition in 2000, and shortly after that, he started vying for the WWF Championship, which he eventually won in October. This was the culmination of what many people believe to be the greatest WWF debut season in history.

Angle has held the WWF/WWE Championship four times, the WCW Championship once, the World Heavyweight Championship once, and the NWA Heavyweight Champions once, among other titles in the WWF/E. He is the fifth Grand Slam Champion in WWE history and the tenth Triple Crown Champion (earning these titles twice under both the original and current formats). Angle was admitted to the WWE Hall of Fame on March 31, 2017. 

After leaving WWE in 2006, Angle joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA, now known as Impact Wrestling), where he won the second Triple Crown in TNA history and established records as the inaugural and six-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion and the NWA Heavyweight Champion (as well as the only one to hold all required titles at once). Angle became the second wrestler, after Sting, to be honoured in both the WWE and TNA Halls of Fame in 2013.

After leaving the world of professional wrestling, Angle has expressed interest in a career in acting. He made his acting debut in the 2008 short film Chains as a racist jail guard. Since then, he has made numerous film and television appearances.
