Who is Lakshya Sen?

Lakshya Sen on Monday won the Men’s Badminton Singles Gold at the Commonwealth Games by beating Tze Yong of Malaysia.10th-ranked Sen came from behind to end Ng Tze Yong's giant-killing run in the competition. The 20-year-old defeated the world number 42 from Malaysia 19-21, 21-9, 21-16.
Sen was born on August 16, 2001, in Almora, Uttarakhand. He comes from a family of badminton aficionados since his father, Mr DK Sen is a badminton coach, and his older brother Chirag Sen is also a professional badminton player who's represented India at an international level in the past.
At the academy
Lakshya Sen's time at the Padukone Academy also helped him a lot. Prakash Padukone's decision to graduate senior players from the academy and focus on juniors ended up being beneficial.

The academy then had an under-13 tournament, which was attended by both Lakshya and Chirag, who eventually went on to join Prakash Padukone's training facility.
Saina Nehwal connect
Indian star player Saina Nehwal's choice to move to Bangalore also helped Lakshya, who'd often practice with her. His coach, Vimal Kumar, commented "Saina's arrival actually helped all the younger ones. Lakshya was the only one who used to beat her in practice. These things motivated him a lot", as per Times of India.

Most recently, Lakshya Sen has signed on Baseline Ventures, who'll represent him on his commercial portfolio. Other athletes represented by Baseline include PV Sindhu, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Smriti Mandhana, Prithvi Shaw, and Srikanth Kadambi.
