At the age of 86, the joint-chairman of West Ham, David Gold, died peacefully on Wednesday. His brief illness’s specifics have not been made public.

His co-owner and long-term business partner David Sullivan leads the tributes, writing: “It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of our colleague and friend.”

Gold is survived by his two daughters and fiancee, Lesley Manning.

Who is Lesley Manning?

Leslie Manning was born in May 1955, making her 67 years old, according to Gov UK.

Although Gold had kept most details of his personal life private, according to The Argus, it was known that he had been engaged to Lesley Jill Manning since at least 2007.

Lesley is a former beauty therapist from the English village of Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex. The couple lived together in Gold’s magnificent Victorian 55-acre mansion in Caterham, Surrey, as well as a home in a Sussex village. It has a runway, a helicopter pad, and a golf course.

Although Manning’s occupation is unknown, she has taken part in a number of charitable activities. She worked as a volunteer at the Hurst Community Charity Shop in her community, describing it as a “great way of meeting people in the village.”

Prior to dating and getting engaged with Manning, Gold married Beryl Hunt in 1957. On the same day he detected his father stealing his shares, Gold saw Hunt having an affair with his closest friend in his swimming pool, leading to their divorce in 1972. Hunt died in 2003.

Following his death, Gold is survived by Manning, and his two daughters, Vanessa and Jacquelin. Jacqueline Gold, the CEO of GGI, Ann Summers, and Knickerbox Ltd., and Vanessa Gold, the managing director of Ann Summers and Knickerbox, are Gold’s two daughters.

Gold was engaged to Manning and they were residing in Caterham, Surrey, as of May 2012.
