Lord David Philip Pannick, Baron Pannick, KC has been reportedly hired by Manchester City to help defend the club against charges from the Premier League. The 66-year-old Blackstone Chambers lawyer was a part of former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s partygate team.
Pep Guardiola and co are facing multiple charges alleging financial rule-breaking over a number of years. The club has denied all charges.

“The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position. As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all,” City said in a statement.
Who is Lord David Philip Pannick, Baron Pannick, KC?
Born on 7 March 1956 in Islington, London, Pannick studied at the Bancroft’s School in Woodford Green. He completed law from Hertford College, Oxford. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and completed a postgraduate Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) degree.
The 66-year-old was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn in 1979. He was one of the panel of Junior Counsel to the Crown. He was then appointed Queen’s Counsel. Pannick also acted as a Recorder on the South Eastern Circuit in 1995 and a deputy High Court judge in 1998. He stopped sitting as a judge in 2005. His title was gazetted as Baron Pannick, of Radlett in the county of Hertfordshire in 2008.
Pannick is Jewish. He married Denise Sloam in 1978. The couple had two sons and one daughter. She died of cancer in 1999. The lawyer then married Nathalie Trager-Lewis in 2003. The couple has two daughters and a son.
