The Phoenix Suns’ Monty Williams will coach Team LeBron James in next month’s All-Star Game in Cleveland.

The Suns’ 115-110 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night advanced their record to an NBA-best 40-9, guaranteeing no other club in the West can catch them by Feb. 6, the deadline for All-Star Game consideration.

As a result, Williams, the Suns’ third-year coach, will be the first to coach in the All-Star Game, and the rest of his staff will join him. He will be the first Phoenix head coach to participate in the All-Star Game since Mike D’Antoni in 2007.

Suns point guard and All-Star Game participant Chris Paul said getting Williams the accolade has been something the team has been thinking about for a few weeks.

“There’s nothing wrong with having a tiny benchmark, a modest aim throughout a lengthy season,” Paul remarked. “I’m just delighted for Monty and our team.” That’s OK.”

Williams expressed gratitude for this.

“It’s a big blessing to be in this position where you can care for an organisation and represent the city, the team, and your family,” Williams said. “I’m aware of all the sacrifices that individuals have made for me to be in this position.” “It’s a collective effort.”

The Eastern Conference coach who will lead Team Kevin Durant is still up in the air. The Miami Heat presently hold a half-game lead over the Chicago Bulls in the standings. The Philadelphia 76ers are 1.5 games back, but Doc Rivers is ineligible because he coached in last season’s All-Star Game.

The lineup for the February 20 event was unveiled on Thursday. After leading the fan voting, James and Durant were named captains.
