Nicholas Jamaal Chubb or Nick Chubb, the National Football League’s top running back, lay in pain on the field at the Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, his left leg twisted in an injury so horrific that broadcasters refused to show a replay.

Prayers went up instantly and fans sent love to the 27-year-old Cleveland Browns back. Nick Chubb was carted off to the locker room and a medical diagnosis is awaited.

Chubb’s knee injury brought back memories of another one he had suffered almost 8 years ago while in college. He had injured the same knee on October 10, 2015, tearing three of the four ligaments while playing against Tennessee.

Who is Nick Chubb?

Chubb was born on December 27, 1995, in Cedartown Georgia, to a family filled with football players. Chubb’s father, brothers, cousins and uncle played at various levels of the game.

At the Cedartown High School, Nick Chubb was both an ace track and field athlete and a football player. Chubb played college football at the University of Georgia and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns as a second round pick (35th overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Chubb has had back-to-back Pro Bowl selections in 2019 and 2020, including starting honors in 2019. He was also named to the 2019 and 2020 PFWA All-AFC teams.

Chubb was one of three finalists for the 2019 NFL FedEx Ground Player of the Year. He was also NFL FedEx Ground Player of the week in week 10 in 2018 and week 4 in 2019.

The Browns RB was named AFC Offensive Player of the week for Week 4 in 2019 and is a two-time NFL Pepsi Rookie of the week (Weeks 4 and 10) from 2018.

Along with Baker Mayfield, Chubb was one of the five 2018 NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Year finalists.
