Pathum Nissanka Silva scored 52 runs off 37 balls against India at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday. He smashed two boundaries and two maximums.

Who is Pathum Nissanka? 

Pathum Nissanka was born on May 18, 1998, in Galle. He was born in
an economically backward family, where his father Sunil Silva worked as a ground
boy and his mother sold flowers near a local temple. However, despite having
tremendous hardships, Pathum did not let them deter him from pursuing his
passion.

Nissanka was included in Sri Lanka A’s lineup for the first-class
series against Ireland in January 2019. With 258 runs in two games, he set the
series record for Sri Lanka A. He also scored his 1,000th run in the 2018–19
Premier League Tournament, batting for Nondescripts Cricket Club against
Colombo Cricket Club. He concluded the tournament as the club’s leading run
scorer and was included in Sri Lanka’s team for the men’s cricket division in
the same month.

Nissanka played his first Twenty20 International (T20I) match for
Sri Lanka on March 3, 2021.   He was included in Sri Lanka’s Test squad
only three days later. He scored 103 runs in his first Sri Lanka Test match
against the West Indies and became the fourth Sri Lankan batsman to do so on
his Test debut.
