Richard Gleeson took three wickets in four deliveries on his England debut at Edgbaston, dismissing Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant in the 2nd T2O against India.

Richard James Gleeson, born December 2, 1987 is an English cricketer who currently plays for Lancashire in domestic championship.

In 2015, he made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire against the Australians, and in 2016 in the Royal London One-Day Cup, he made his List A debut for Northamptonshire against Lancashire.

Gleeson initially played for Northants on a match-by-match basis while continuing his full-time job coaching in schools and cricket clubs for the Lancashire Cricket Board and later signed a three-year contract with Northants in July 2016.

He also joined the Rangpur Riders of the Bangladesh Premier League in 2016.

Toward the end of the 2018 season, he relocated from Northamptonshire to Lancashire.

Gleeson stated after being named to England’s training squad in May 2020 and possibly playing for England -“never give up, keep following your dream and keep pursuing things.”

Gleeson was named to England’s 24-man squad for the One Day International (ODI) series against Ireland on 9 July 2020, and was later named as one of three reserve players in England’s squad for the series.

Gleeson took his first five-wicket haul in Twenty20 cricket on May 29, 2022, against the Worcestershire Rapids in the 2022 T20 Blast.

Gleeson was named to England’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their home series against India in July 2022. On July 9, 2022, he made his T20I debut for England against India.

Before his debut against India, Gleeson was last seen at the T20 appearance in 2022 for Northamptonshire against Birmingham Bears.

Gleeson has 73 T20 wickets in 66 matches with an economy rate of 7.96. He has also represented Melbourne Renegades and Rangpur Riders in the Big Bash League and Bangladesh Premier League, respectively. He plays for Manchester Originals in the Hundred.

Gleeson had a fantastic T20 Blast 2022 season with Lancashire, earning him a spot in England’s squad, where he took 23 wickets in 14 matches at an economy rate of 7.83.
