After six nominations, former Buccaneers cornerback Ronde Barber will finally enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Barber had a distinguished career that included one Super Bowl victory, five Pro Bowl nominations, and holding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ career interceptions record.
The 92-yard interception return for a score in the 2002 NFC championship game is regarded as one of his career’s best plays. Barber is the Buccaneers’ career leader in interceptions and the only cornerback in NFL history to have made at least 200 starts.
“It’s a shame it took Ronde this long,” former Bucs coach Tony Dungy said to the Tampa Bay Times. “But I don’t know there’s anybody who played that many games at corner and still played at a high level doing all those things in Year 13, Year 14, Year 15. It’s crazy.
