The University of Cincinnati is reportedly hiring former American football player Scott Satterfield as the coach of their team Cincinnati Bearcats. Satterfield will be ending his four-year stint with University of Louisville and is replacing Luke Fickell for his new role. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamell, the deal is worth 6 years and was settled on Sunday night.

“I am honored to be the next head coach at the University of Cincinnati and am looking forward to building on the winning tradition this program has had over the last 20 years,” Satterfield was quoted as saying by wlwt.com. The Cincinnati club also welcomed their new coach on social media. The Bearfields will play the cardinals in the 2022 Wesabi Fenway Bowl later in December.

Who is Scott Satterfield?

Scott Satterfield is a professional American football coach and a former player (Quarterback). He was born on December 21, 1972 at Hillsborough in North Carolina. He started his playing career as a Quarterback for Orange High school in his hometown Hillsborough.

He then represented Appalachian State University for five years from 1991-96. His coaching career started when he became the same team’s receivers coach in 1998. He was also active later as a running backs’ mentor (1999-02) and quarterbacks coach (2002-08). He also had coaching stints at University of Toledo for a year (quarterback coach) and at Florida International University as an offensive coordinator.

After returning to alma mater Appalachian State as an offensive coordinator, he was soon made the team’s head coach in 2013. After a highly successful 51-24 run at the club that includes three  sunbelt championships, he left the club and joined the University of Louisville as head coach on December 4 2018. At Louisville he had a 25-24 record as head coach that ended in December 2022.
